If you are interested in having a little bit of fun while on the beach, beach metal detectors may be a good idea of something that can keep you busy. If you decide to use one of these detectors, keep in your mind what things these items can and cannot do. For example:

• They can find metal - If you are looking for a buried treasure, there is a good chance these detectors will pick up on the treasure. Of course, the chances are slim to none you will actually find something like this. Still, metal detectors are extremely good at being able to find things such as jewelry and loose change. So if you have lost something and you are looking for it, you may want to try a metal detector.

• Depending on how sensitive a metal detector you purchase, there is a good chance you might find more junk than you might want. A sensitive metal detector can definitely pick up things like jewelry and loose change, but it can also just as easily pick up things like bottle caps and aluminum foil.

You should think a bit about the kinds of things you want to accomplish with your metal detector before you actually go out and buy one. If you are a beginning hobbyist, chances are beach metal detectors are the right place to begin.
